The art collector wrung his hands as he looked at the destroyed piece of art.
“It was worth so much,” his voice barely above a whisper. “What heartless person would do a thing like this? Who would vandalize something so beautiful, so valuable? Whoever did it can be sure we will make them pay for the damage.”
“I agree,” said his colleague. “Yet that piece is irreplaceable. No amount of money will ever bring it back.”

“Finished.” He stood up to look at a job well done. He made sure every feature was just how He wanted it. No two works of art have ever been the same. Now, just one more thing…
He leaned back over His princess, and breathed life into her lungs. Suddenly, His masterpiece came alive.
It was only a matter years until His priceless treasure began to feel the pressure. Billboards, magazines, tv commercials, it was everywhere. It all screamed “Make yourself more beautiful. Try our product. Go on this diet. Wear these clothes. Lipo your fat. Botox your lips. Tuck here, plump there. You aren’t good enough the way you are.”
And so she did.
The Artist was left looking down at His battered piece of artwork, as she looked at herself in the mirror, despising her unique, created beauty.
With tears running down His face, He looked at her with love
. “My precious,” He whispered. “No one could love you as much as I. No one has spent as much time stooped over you, forming you, and creating you. Why do you listen to them, as they convince you to change? Hear me, my daughter. Listen to me. You are beautiful. A creation of my own. Made in my image. Let this be enough, and rest.”

The art collector had his piece restored, and the vandal paid for his crime. The story even got covered by the news. It was a crime that one must stoop low to achieve.
Yet where is the uproar when we vandalize our bodies, that are made in the image of God? Who cares if we starve ourselves in order to be thinner? If we get silicon implants to be bigger? No one minds if we deface our bodies; change them into something they were not. It is what a majority of the world is telling us to do, and what most are doing.
You don’t have to look far to realize that way too many beautiful young (and yes, even Christian) girls are buying into these lies.
Let me tell you, for whatever it is worth, that you are beyond value, and beyond compare. I can say this without even knowing who ‘you’ is, because the hand of God formed you, and breathed His life breath into your lungs.
Don’t stoop to the world’s definition of beauty.
Today, look in the mirror, and instead of criticizing what you see, praise God for His ability to make something so complex, so unique, and so wonderful.
“I will praise Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are Thy works, and that my soul knoweth right well.
How precious also are Thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake I am still with Thee.”
Psalm 139:14; 17-18
